We are delighted to announce a significant moment in the life of Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students (SLEFES): the official handover of leadership from our outgoing General Secretary, Mr. William Yandi Conteh, to our incoming Acting General Secretary, Mr. Matthew Sahr Charles Jr.
The transition process, marked by a formal handover ceremony, took place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. It was a moment of reflection on the accomplishments of Mr. William Yandi Conteh during his tenure, and an optimistic look forward to the leadership of AGS Matthew.
Acknowledging Dedicated Service
Mr. William Yandi Conteh has served SLEFES with dedication, passion, and commitment for 8 years. Under his leadership, SLEFES brake new ground by pioneering new Christian Unions (CUs), re-pioneering and strengthening weaker CUs, formalizing our status with IFES, and setting high standards for the ministry. His leadership has been instrumental in the growth, impact, and spiritual development of countless students. His wisdom, dedication, and tireless efforts have left a lasting imprint on this ministry, and it’s a legacy worth preserving.
We warmly welcome Mr. Matthew as our Acting General Secretary. His wealth of experience (having served SLEFES for 13 years), vision for the future, and commitment to the mission of SLEFES position us for continued growth and impact.
Looking Forward
As we embrace this new chapter, we express our gratitude to the out-going GS (Mr. William Yandi Conteh) for his exemplary service and extend our support and best wishes to Mr. Matthew S. Charles Jr. as he assumes this leadership role.
We encourage all members, associates, students, and stakeholders to stay connected with SLEFES for updates on our ongoing initiatives, programs, and the exciting developments under the new leadership.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for SLEFES as we navigate this transition and collectively advance the mission of reaching students for Christ.
Mr. WILLIAM YANDI CONTEH
OUT GONE GENERAL SECRETARY
SYMBOLIC HANDING OVER TO THE NEW SLEFES ACTING GS- 14th FEBRUARY 2024
I was called on today’s date to symbolically transfer authority to my successor in SLEFES. It was a short but very emotional reflection looking at where we started some 8 years ago. Time runs fast but memories of what we share in our service together in reaching students for Christ to impact our nation brings joy to the soul.
I am no longer the GS but the vision of SLEFES sink deep in my heart that I can’t stop talking about it. I am therefore appealing to you to make time as you have done in the past to say a prayer for SLEFES and contribute to its needs.
The staff need their pay to enable them reach more students for Christ. It’s our collective responsibility to make this happen.
I treasure your hand of fellowship and support while I was the GS, for which I still ask for the grace to continue doing same with Acting GS Mathew Charles Jr. He served with me as TS North Kono Region and bear the benchmarks I have always upheld in my tenure. With your support he’ll do better.
It is my prayer therefore, that God will bless and uphold SLEFES under the leadership of Mathew and give you the grace to support him in whatever way possible.
Shalom.
